Carbon steel castings are, as you might expect, characterised by their high carbon composition which delivers a high strength, toughened steel for use in high pressure conditions. Carbon steel can withstand high stresses and, as such, is ideal for mechanical and structural applications.
The low and medium carbon alloy steels contain varying amounts of nickel, chromium or molybdenum to enhance their durability and toughness, as well as their resistance to corrosion.
