HEAT TREATMENT
Heat treatment of castings is used to alter the properties of cast alloys.Heating and cooling (to precise levels of control) can impact on the properties of the alloy (ie harness, strength, elasticilty).
Norton Cast have invested heavily in a high temperature gas fired heat treatment furnace capable of temperatures of up to 1300 degrees centigrade.
The furnace has a water quench facility with automatic tray removal. The time interval from furnace to agitated, externally cooled quench tank is less than 45 seconds.
